There are times when I just feel stuck, like my foot is ensnared in a mouse trap and I can’t move. Times where motivation is lost and I can’t get myself out of the trap to move ahead. I feel like this might be the season I’m in.
The other night, while driving home, I came across a song on the radio called “Dare You to Move” by Switchfoot. I began to allow the words to fill my mind as I drove. The lyrics are perfect for this time in my life. This season where I feel that I'm not living to my full potential. To the potential God created me with. The song says, "the tension is here, between who you are and who you could be." I realize that who I am now, is not the person I could be. To get to that point requires motivation and action. The chorus says “I dare you to move, I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor. I dare you to move like today never happened.”
Welcome to the planet
Welcome to existence
Everyone's here
Everyone's here
Everybody's watching you now
Everybody waits for you now
What happens next?
What happens next?
I dare you to move
I dare you to move
I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor
I dare you to move
I dare you to move
Like today never happened
Today never happened before
Welcome to the fallout
Welcome to resistance
The tension is here
The tension is here
Between who you are and who you could be
Between how it is and how it should be
I dare you to move
I dare you to move
I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor
I dare you to move
I dare you to move
Like today never happened
Today never happened
Maybe redemption has stories to tell
Maybe forgiveness is right where you fell
Where can you run to escape from yourself?
Where you gonna go?
Where you gonna go?
Salvation is here
I dare you to move
I dare you to move
I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor
I dare you to move
I dare you to move
Like today never happened
Today never happened
Today never happened
Today never happened before

i love, love switchfoot.i know exactly how you feel, feeling like your stuck in a trap. & i often struggle with looking too much at the past, rather than looking at what lies ahead. praying for you.
