Our next stop was to the infamous city of Paris, France. I really had no idea what to expect from this city. It wasn't one of my favorites, but it was definitely somewhere you need to see, mainly for the Eiffel Tower.
In France, I learned:
- The bread is good
- There are a ton of guys that walk around the streets trying to sell souvenirs for cheap. (mostly mini eiffel tower replicas and postcards) If you even show the least bit of interest, they are on you like a leech. Apparently their trade is illegal
- The Parisians hated the Eiffel Tower at first. They would call it the 'eyesore' or the 'monster of Paris.' The reason being is, at the time, there was a building height limit of seven stories. To have this massive tower in the middle of their city was disgraceful
- I found that Paris is basically the New York City of Europe. Lots of very diverse people, big, kind of dirty in some parts, but also upscale in others
- Paris is a very stressful city. That is why French people come across as rude
- I found that if you're nice to the people, they're not that mean. They may not go out of their way to be friendly, but they're not rude
- The historical axis of Paris is an exact alignment of monuments and buildings that extend from Paris to the west. When you stand outside the Louvre, you can look east and see about three monuments lined up precisely
- You can't walk the streets without seeing a beggar. Most of them are actually gypsies
- Some people play instruments on the subway then ask for money
- The Eiffel Tower is stunning! It sparkles every hour on the hour once the sun goes down

awesome. but what about the rude french that aren't in paris? ha!
We spent 4 days in Paris. Everyday we would go up to the Tower and people watch. It was so interesting and funny to watch the men selling mini-Towers run from the Police when they would drive through on their bikes!
